Packmate guide
Packmate turns your bundles into Wix automatic discounts. This guide explains each bundle type and — most importantly — what a shopper must actually put in the cart to get the discount.
Quick mental model:
- Mix & Match = buy any N items from a group of products.
- Volume discount = buy more, save more (quantity tiers).
- Build your own bundle = the shopper picks products from a group; the discount starts at a minimum.
How the discount is applied
- Every active bundle creates an automatic discount in your store. You can see them under
Catalog → Discounts → Automatic Discounts — their names start with
Packmate:. - No coupon code. The discount is applied in the cart and at checkout as soon as the cart qualifies — whether the shopper used the Packmate offer or added the products one by one.
- The discount is per item. Wix discounts the qualifying items in the cart:
- % off takes that percentage off each qualifying item.
- Amount off takes that amount off each qualifying item, not off the bundle total. "$5 off" on a 3-item bundle saves the shopper $15.
- Only the bundle's products are discounted. Other items in the cart keep their price.
- One discount per item. If a product qualifies for several discounts (two bundles, two volume tiers, or one of your own Wix automatic discounts), Wix gives the shopper the single best one. Discounts never add up.
- Draft bundles create no discount. Start / end dates are passed to Wix, so the discount only runs inside that window.
Mix & Match
What it is: a group of products with one discount once the shopper buys enough of them.
What the shopper must do to get the discount: have the required number of items from the group in the cart. It is counted by total quantity, not one of each product.
Example — group = Product A + Product B, items required = 2:
| Shopper's cart | Qualifies? |
|---|---|
| A ×1, B ×1 | ✅ (2 items) |
| A ×2 | ✅ (2 items) |
| A ×1 | ❌ (1 item, below 2) |
- Leave Items required empty and it equals the number of products in the bundle (a 3-product bundle needs 3 items).
- The offer on the product page ticks every product and adds the whole set in one click.
Example: "Shampoo + Conditioner + Mask — buy all 3, get 15% off each."
Volume discount
What it is: the discount grows with the quantity bought, using tiers.
What the shopper must do to get the discount: reach a tier's quantity. Each tier is "buy at least N", so higher quantity = bigger discount.
- Quantity counts items of the bundle's products in the cart.
- Tiers do not add up — the shopper gets the best tier they reached. With "2+ → 10%" and "3+ → 20%": 2 items get 10%, 3 or more items get 20% (not 30%).
- Each tier must have a different quantity, and a bigger discount should need a bigger quantity.
- The offer on the product page lists the tiers with an Add N link that puts that many of the current product in the cart.
Example: "Buy 2 save 10%, buy 4 save 20%."
Build your own bundle
What it is: a group of products the shopper picks from. The discount starts once they have picked at least the minimum.
What the shopper must do to get the discount: have at least Items required (default 2) items from the group in the cart. More is fine.
- On the product page the current product is ticked; the shopper ticks the others they want and the button counts down ("Select 1 more") until the bundle can be added.
Example: "Pick any 3 from our candle range — 10% off each."
Products with options (size, color…)
Wix can only add an exact variant to the cart. When a bundle product has options:
- the Packmate offer shows a dropdown next to it so the shopper picks one;
- the option already chosen on the product page is pre-selected;
- sold-out variants are shown as (sold out) and cannot be picked.
Products with no options need nothing — Packmate fills in the right variant when you save the bundle.
Showing the offer on your store
The Packmate offer is a plugin on the Wix Stores product page, under Add to Cart. It only appears on products that belong to an active bundle.
Packmate tries to add it when you install. If you don't see it:
- Open the Editor and go to your Product Page.
- Select the product widget and click the Plugins icon.
- Find Packmate Bundle Offer and click Add.
- Publish your site.
You can follow the same steps from Getting started inside the app — it also confirms when the offer has loaded on your live site.
Limits
- Up to 50 products per bundle.
- The discount name in Wix is shortened to 50 characters.
- One discount per bundle (or per tier for Volume discount).
If you uninstall Packmate
Bundle discounts stop applying right away. Wix may still list the Packmate: discounts under
Automatic Discounts, but they no longer discount anything — you can delete them. If you reinstall
Packmate, your bundles and discounts come back as they were.
Common questions
Does the shopper need to use the Packmate offer to get the discount? No. The discount is automatic: any cart that meets the bundle's rule gets it.
In Mix & Match, must the shopper buy one of each product? No. Only the total number of items from the group counts.
Why did a shopper get 20% and not 10% + 20%? Wix applies one discount per item — the best one.
Why is my bundle saved but marked "Not live on your store"? Wix rejected the discount. The message next to the bundle says why; fix it and save again.
